Virtual Economics is published by The London Academy of Science and Business, Unit 3, Office A, 1st Floor, 6–7 St. Mary At Hill, London EC3R 8EE, United Kingdom. The London Academy of Science and Business is a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 11331981) and acts as the data controller for personal data processed in connection with the operation of the journal.

The journal processes personal data of authors, reviewers, editors and other participants in the publication process. Such data may include names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, ORCID identifiers (where provided), authorship and contribution information, and editorial correspondence. Personal data are processed solely for the purposes of manuscript submission, peer review, editorial management, publication, dissemination, indexing, archiving and communication related to the journal and the maintenance of the scholarly record.

Processing of personal data is carried out in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. The legal basis for processing is the legitimate interest of the Publisher in operating a scholarly journal and, where applicable, the performance of a publishing agreement with the Author(s). Publication of authorship information is an integral part of academic communication and does not require separate consent.

Personal data may be shared where necessary with editors, reviewers, publication platform providers, indexing and abstracting services, archiving and preservation systems and DOI registration agencies in order to ensure publication and dissemination of articles. Personal data are not sold and are not used for commercial marketing purposes.

Because the journal is international and articles are published online, published author information becomes publicly accessible worldwide as part of the scholarly record. Published articles and associated metadata are retained indefinitely for citation, indexing and archiving purposes. Editorial and peer-review correspondence may be retained for as long as necessary to ensure publication integrity and compliance with ethical and legal obligations.

Individuals whose data are processed have the right to request access to their personal data, correction of inaccurate data, and restriction of processing, where applicable under law. Requests may be addressed to the editorial office at editor@virtual-economics.eu. Removal of authorship information from a published article is generally not possible, as publication forms part of the permanent scientific record.

If you believe that your personal data have been processed unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

The Publisher applies appropriate organisational and technical measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. This policy may be updated when required by legal or operational changes, and the current version will always be available on the journal website.
