Archiving & Digital Preservation
Virtual Economics ensures the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published scholarly content through certified third-party digital preservation services.
The journal is preserved in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP-PN), a distributed digital preservation service operated by the Public Knowledge Project. Through this service, the Version of Record of each published article is automatically deposited and securely archived in multiple geographically distributed locations.
The PKP Preservation Network provides dark archiving. In the event that the journal website becomes unavailable or a trigger event occurs, the preserved content may be made accessible in order to maintain the continuity of the scholarly record.
In addition, all articles are registered with Crossref and assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), ensuring persistent linking, reliable citation, and long-term discoverability of the published material.
Virtual Economics permits authors to deposit the Version of Record in institutional or subject repositories in accordance with the journal’s open access and self-archiving policy.
These measures ensure the long-term availability, integrity, and citability of the scholarly record.
